General Info

Shinshin Jokbal sits comfortably along Whitehorse Road at 495 Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham VIC 3132, Australia, and it feels like one of those places locals quietly recommend to friends who genuinely love Korean food. This Korean restaurant has a relaxed, casual vibe that works just as well for a laid-back dinner as it does for a quick bite after a long day. Walk in and you immediately get the sense that the menu is focused, confident, and built around comfort dishes done properly.

Jokbal is clearly the heart of the kitchen here, and it shows in the way each dish arrives thoughtfully prepared. The Cold Jokbal is a standout, especially if you enjoy clean, balanced flavours. Served chilled, it’s refreshing yet rich, with tender pork that feels carefully seasoned rather than overpowering. For something more traditional and filling, the 족발정식 and Jokbal 정식 offer a complete experience, pairing sliced jokbal with well-matched sides that round out the meal without stealing the spotlight.

If you’re in the mood for something bold, the Soy Garlic Bosssam delivers deep savoury notes with just enough sweetness to keep each bite interesting. On the spicier end, Buljokbal brings heat and intensity, making it a popular choice for diners who like their food with attitude. These signature dishes give the menu variety while staying true to what Shinshin Jokbal does best.

The restaurant also works well for families, with a setting that’s good for kids and not overly formal. Service feels easygoing and efficient, which makes dining in comfortable and stress-free. Takeaway is available too, and the food travels surprisingly well, especially the jokbal sets that stay flavourful even after the ride home.

Reviews often mention consistency, and that’s something you notice quickly. Whether you’re visiting for dinner or grabbing a casual meal, the experience feels reliable. The location is convenient, the portions are satisfying, and the flavours stay true to Korean dining traditions without feeling dated. Shinshin Jokbal fits neatly into the local food scene as a place you can return to, knowing exactly why you enjoyed it the first time.

What customers say?

“ We ordered sausage stew, bossam bento, soy garlic pork hock, and pork belly — and everything was absolutely delicious! The pork belly was so tender it practically melted in our mouths. The soy garlic pork hock had a strong garlic kick, so unless you’re a garlic lover, you might want to try a different flavour. The sausage stew came with a super generous portion of spam, sausages - tasty toppings. Overall, such a happy feast for our family of four for $135! ”

“ A friend who has lived in Melbourne for a long time recommended it to me, so I drove 40 minutes to visit for the first time. It was a smaller store than I thought, and the staff greeted me kindly. I took the half and half jokbal to go and ate the bossam bento at the restaurant. I dipped the meat of the right thickness in shrimp paste and tasted it, and I was satisfied. I thought it would have been more delicious if I had paid a little more and eaten it with cabbage soup, soybean paste soup, or bean sprout soup haha. I arrived home 40 minutes later and ate the jokbal I had taken out, and it was very delicious. I personally liked the original jokbal better, and the spicy jokbal was spicy as the staff said, but I kept eating it. kkk It took over an hour for a round trip, but I was satisfied with the taste, so I think I will spend more on gas in the future... :^^: ”

“ The spicy jokbal is not for the faint of heart. It's genuinely like, near inedible unless your spice tolerance is very good. I don't know what they put in that red sauce, but I feel like they could serve to tone it down a bit. Other than that, food is great ”

“ I recommend garlic flavour (or half half with original) so much! It balanced so well especially with the bossam ”

- Anes Kim -

“ The service here is great, the staff here are very attentive and care about providing a great service. The food itself is amazing. Can't go wrong with the Jokbal and Spicy Pork Belly. The spiciness can be a bit much for some folks but if you need, you can try asking for the serving to be smaller. The seaweed rice is a must try as well. ”

“ The best Korean pork leg in town especially the garlic one ! Definitely my list now ”
